Ok, not really a sad day; that's an exaggeration. However...
It's Teacher Inservice Day, so I'm just hanging at home this morning. I decided to organize Jack's drawers into outfits instead of having a T-shirt drawer and a shorts drawer. In going through them, I realized all his Gymboree animal shirts are not only a little small, but a little too young. Jack has always LOVED his animal shirts. When he was a little guy and other boys were into vehicles and characters on their shirts, Jack always preferred animals... dinosaurs, sharks, bugs, you name it. That phase is OVER.
Now he wants grunge shirt. Skateboards, skulls, guitar. And, of course, I'm supporting him in that, because I like those T-shirts, too! And I definitely want him to feel "cool," if that's important to him.
Not sure why this hit me so hard today. Maybe it's PMS. But it's a very clear sign that my little boy is growing up too fast!
Please share with us some other "signs" that suddenly hit you about your kids growing up!

awww, i remember those days, so hard to let them grow up. hmm, lets see, when they no longer need you to help them fill their dinner plate, saying "I can do it myself", reading on their own and the big one, not wanting to kiss mom goodbye at school. sigh, so sad. karma for you!

I don't have any children, but another online SB friend was posting that her sons don't want her to refer to her husband/their father as "Daddy" but rather "Dad". I can remember making a conscious decision to stop calling my mother "Mommy" and switch to "Mom". I was just starting junior high.

My Mom made us call her "Mommy" all through childhood, including highschool! I was embarrassed at the time, but I still call her Mommy today, and I don't mind one bit!

I agree Michelle they grow up so fast. I think the first time she asked to go to the mall with her friends. After that it seemed like every month there would be another sign.
